Time in a Bottle

If you have had a particularly long courtship, build your wedding around the theme "Time in a Bottle":

  1. First Dance: "Time in a Bottle" by Jim Croce
  2. Send your invitations as scrolls kept in glass bottles and filled with tiny watch parts.
  3. Choose and black and white venue like the George Peabody Library at Johns Hopkins.
  4. Gift you groom and groomsmen engraved pocket watches.
  5. Give your guests tiny hourglasses with a message that a donation has been made to your favorite cause, and this poem by William Blake: To see a World in a Grain of Sand / And a Heaven in a Wild Flower / Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand / And Eternity in an hour.
  6. If possible, have 12 tables and seat 12 people at each table. You can make you own custom linens by sewing or ironing on the numbers 1-12 in clock fashion along a white tablecloth.
  7. Have bells chime and midnight, when you and your groom depart in a carriage.
