Love this simple centerpiece of wood with crisp white--dark chiavari chairs, all white linens and plates--from Martha Stewart Weddings.
Keepsake

Keepsake Idea: If you're getting married at the beach, in NYC, in the woods, etc. see if you can find a feather from a pigeon, seagull, etc. Package it and tag it like above. Photo from Creature Comforts.

Movies
Love this detail from Danielle and Greg's vintage movie-themed wedding posted on Snippet & Ink: "After dinner, guests were invited to watch a silent movie in the courtyard, listen to Syd and Matt York, and snack on movie treats from the "concession stand" as well as groom's cake "hamburgers" from Elegant Cheesecakes, or they could party in the art gallery and watch Grease, dance to San Francisco DJ Chris Harnett, and enjoy treats from the dessert bar." I love the idea of having a little "movie room" for guests who don't want to dance!
Magnet Street Weddings

I'm so excited to announce our new sponsor, Magnet Street Weddings! Their shop is overflowing with useful and creative wedding products--customized save-the-dates, invitations, envelopes, place cards, return address labels, RSVP cards, favors...pretty much any kind of stationery item you might have forgotten. One of the greatest parts is that you can order free samples of their products before you make the final order. Here are my favorite products:
- Moving Announcements--I think it's a great idea to attach one of these cards to your wedding favors if you're moving soon after the wedding.
- Mini Magnet "Carrier Cards--I've actually never seen these before, but they're really neat! You just insert a little 2 x 3.5" magnet with your save-the-date information into the slots in the card, and then when guests remove the magnet, the details are underneath--so clever! I love the heart drawn in the sand... another idea I love would be to write out "Save the Date" or your names in the sand and have a custom magnet made.
- "Just Married" Car Magnets--so adorable. Love the vintage black and white.

The Most Gorgeous Wedding

This is one of the most creative weddings I have ever seen! And these photographs by Millie Holloman... they are spectacular. Thanks to Southern Weddings for posting some of these and allowing me to find them. There were so many great details and photo ideas, I had to make three boards to fit everything! This wedding has such an intimate vintage appeal... I've listed below the reasons I loved each of these photos, in order:
BOX 1:
- A shot of the bride and groom alone in a church pew is such a creative idea. I'll have to copy this one! Who thinks to take photos IN THE CHURCH afterward? Usually it's on the steps or in the gardens...such a great idea.
- A shot from above in the church with the bride's dress spinning around her; this almost looks like a dance.
- The beautiful birdcage veil and a look of utter love.
- A quaint little chapel on a country road... almost like a movie.
- The couple was showered with pom poms (instead of petals or birdseed)!
- An incredible photo capturing the bride's father's emotions as she walks down the aisle.
- Now this shot is really like a movie-doors wide open, light pouring in...
- Do you see the couple's shadow on the building??
- The reception was outdoors at The Murray House Inn in Kenansville, NC, and the lawn was strung with lights. So casually chic.
- An old photo of the bride's grandmother...
- Megan's recreation of the same shot!
- A shot of the bride from above through a spiral staircase.
- Next to the chapel was a little school house--such a great photo op!
- Such an other-worldly shot of a girl looking out the window of the church--perhaps dreaming about her own wedding?
- Another great school house shot.
- The little boxes made to hold the pom poms at the ceremony.
- The getaway included an outfit change and aThunderbird, wonderful paired with Megan's blue dress and vintage suitcase!
- Love the tilted angle on this one, and the picturesque white chapel in the back.
I just can't get over those creative engagement shots in a barn (and a car)! I also love the bride's attire--her vintage silhouette and shoes. Here are some other details from this wedding I loved:
- Megan's aunt baked the cake
- The cake topper belonged to the groom's parents
- The rings were tied into John 's mother's wedding Bible,
- Megan wore her mother's wedding dress
- John wore his grandfather's wedding band, and added his wedding date on the inscription next to his grandfather's.
- The pew markers were made from John's mother's wedding dress
- The couple passed their rings around the church before the ceremony for guests to bless them.
- Attached to Megan's bouquet was the limoge box in which John presented her engagement ring.

Perfume
This Cannabis Rose perfume was recommended by the Beauty Editor at Martha Stewart Weddings, who wore it on her wedding day and raved about it! The name, too, is beautiful...
Newspaper Book
Guest Book Idea: Visit your local antique store and see if you can find a huge old book (I found one of old bound newspaper articles at my local shop in Iowa). Glue in library pockets, one onto each page. Have your guests sign library cards and stick them in the pockets. You can bid on one here.
Yellow
When I saw this inspiration board posted on Snippet & Ink, I just had to show it here! Not only do I love the yellow striped cake, but this is so like the vision I have for my wedding: summer, yellow, vintage... I also LOVE the yellow dress!

Love Notes
Program Idea: I love these programs posted on Once Wed. Courtney created a collage of love notes from 10 years of dating and printed them on the back of the ceremony programs to pass out to their guests.
Thank You Cards
I love these thank you cards from KC and Sara's wedding on Once Wed. I love getting pictures from weddings, and because these are insertable, the photo can be taken out as a keepsake.

Bible
I really love the idea of tying your rings into an old Bible and having your the best man carry this instead of a box or a pouch. This may be my favorite wedding of all time, and I just have to post more of Millie Hollomon's shots. Via Southern Weddings.
Blue Mason Jars
Centerpiece Idea: I love this gorgeously simple photo found on We Met in a Bar. Blue mason jars filled with cream roses would make a wonderful garden wedding centerpiece. For a small wedding, you could also tag the necks of the jars and give them, with flowers, as favors to your guests.

This morning, Valerie of Custom Printables generated a Random Integer number to pick the winner of her giveaway. And the winner is: Kelly, who wrote: "This would be perfect! My aunt is making custom chocolates for our wedding and it would be the cutest way to present them as favors!"
Congratulations, Kelly, and thank you everyone for your comments! :)

Childhood Photos
Photography Idea: I love this photo from this wedding posted on Snippet and Ink. What a great idea to have your photographer take a photograph of you looking at a snapshot of yourself as a child.

Missy Photography
I love the work of the talented Missy Murphy, a photographer who has recently relocated to New York--her wedding shots are some of the freshest-colored, most creative photography I've seen in a long time! I've included some of my favorites above. She is the master of the beautiful ground shot (love the pretty colors in the bench shot!); these images really come alive. They feel so private and intimate. Another great idea I'd like to steal: a photo of the bride making a wish on a dandelion before the ceremony!

Sponsor Welcome: Custom Printables

I am SO happy to welcome a new sponsor to Victoria with Roses! Valerie of Custom Printables designs gorgeous custom monograms (in Hebrew and English), save-the-dates, candy wrappers (my favorite!) and invitation suites. Check out her Etsy shop and her blog for more great samples of her work and information on how to order! And her work is so affordable--custom monograms are only $5 and candy wrappers are $15. This is a great option for those of you who love thinking up creative DIY projects but need a little help (like myself!) with the artistic part. Custom-wrapped chocolates, for example, would make a great shower favor in addition to wedding favors; or your could package homemade cookies in cellophane bags with a monogrammed sticker. Welcome Valerie!

SD Calligraphy
I love talking about other great bloggers, and Sarah Darcy from Classic Bride has just opened a new calligraphy shop! SDC aims to offer clients an exquisitely thoughtful detail that will both inspire and impress. In an age where snail mail has become scarce, SDC will create a resurgence of the traditional past with an infusion of modern femininity in the form of hand-lettering for envelopes, table numbers, escort cards, signage and more. Congratulations, Sarah!
Lela Rose
Bridal designer Lela Rose (who made those beautiful pastel colored bridesmaids' dresses for Jenna Bush's wedding) has a line of bridal shoes coming to Payless in February (think lots of ribbons and feminine touches--note the shoes above are not from her collection). Most of the shoes can be dyed at no extra cost, and I'm thinking I might get a pair of yellow ones to change into for dancing!
