Budget

This budget wedding featured on Style Me Pretty was thrown for under $2000, and it is beautiful! Here are my favorite ideas: Handmade white cotton pennants draped all over the ceremony and reception; a clothesline of black and white photos; self-arranged flowers; dresses from Urban Outfitters, shoes from DSW, and tights from Macys; bride went to Forever 21 and bought lots of hair pins and jewelry to go with the dresses, put them all in a big bowl, and let her bridesmaids choose; only wine for alcohol (Trader Joe's); cake made by the bride; the bride asked family and friends to choose a meaningful dessert and bring it to the wedding; food was soup and cornbread.

I love the idea of getting your bridesmaids' beautiful, quality gemstone jewelry--or even rings to mark your friendship (I especially love vibrant yellows and blues). I am so excited to welcome Gemvara, one of our new sponsors. Their site has an extraordinary trove of gemstone jewelry, not to mention stunning engagement rings!

Gatsby

Some Ideas I love from this wedding on 100 Layer Cake:
  1. “We put a bottle of wine, two glasses, and a set of love letters (written in secret and unshared) into a wooden crate and then sealed it with nails (each nail was hammered by a family member to show their commitment to supporting our marriage and then finally by us). The crate is meant as an act of reassurance, a romantic gesture–if ever our relationship is in peril, we are to open the crate, drink the wine, and read the letters before we make any decisions about our future.”
  2. Tradition: None of the women in the bride's family wear white dresses on their wedding day.
  3. Vintage player piano reel as table runners.
  4. The simple white chuppah.

Post

Love this idea in this Amorology wedding: Vintage style post cards sat atop each plate. The back side allowed for all guests to leave the couple a message, which the bride's mom offered to mail to them throughout their first year of marriage and on anniversaries. The front side featured various engagement pictures as well as several love and beach quotes such as, "If you want to know how much I love you, count the waves."
